Smooth hounds sharks in the River Mersey

Fishing High Water Seacome Ferry: The Smooth Hounds Are In!

Fishing high water along the seafront is one of the most exciting things to do, especially when the smooth hounds are in! Seacome Ferry is one of my favourite spots to fish, and I'm going to share with you some tips and tricks to help you catch some decent smooth hounds this year.

Firstly, let's talk about the rig. My rig of choice is a 1 up 1 down baited with crab baits. This method works so well because you're fishing hard on the bottom and about a foot off the bottom. Using this rig, you're going to catch a number of species, including dabs, flounder, plaice, smooth hound, and bass, just to name a few.

It's a great all year round venue and perfect for those who have trouble lumbering there gear around. The best tides to fish, in my opinion, are 8.4ft and below. I usually fish it 2.5 hours before high tide and maybe an hour after. Depending on the spot you choose, it's fishable 2 hours after high tide and can produce some nice fish.

However, it's important to watch out for the River Mersey, which is a furious river. If you fish it on a big tide, you won't hold bottom, and it will be almost impossible to fish. So, make sure you check the tide times before you head out.

Fishing high water along the seafront is a great way to spend your day, and Seacome Ferry is the perfect spot to do it.

So, get set up, get comfortable, and start fishing. With the right rig and the right timing, you're sure to catch some decent smooth hounds this year.

I hope this information finds you well, and I wish you the best of luck on your next fishing trip.
