Sunday we had our boat out, (nemesis) and if I'm honest the weather was a bit hairy and maybe we shouldn't of...But we did anyway.
It was the 4th cod fishing winter league boat match of the year on the River Mersey. We all had to battle the strong winds and Icy conditions to get our league points.
The fishing has been pretty good this year, compared to the past few years, their were hardly any cod caught last year. Whereas this year there are plenty thankfully.
All boats reached there quoter (best 5 cod) with the best weight bag being 15 lb+.
The boats that were out, fished both Wirral and liverpool side of the River Mersey. Going as far up as the plucky bank.
We decided to fish by the sewer boi off the clock tower.
The better more consistent fish came from the plucky bank all averaging around 3 lb+ . We had the biggest cod of the day at 3.9lb which we had at the beginning of the ebb.
Well I say we, it was my dad Jimmy Catterall, pictured above.
Baits where black lug, normal lug & razor. Bites where consistent throughout with us all catching fish. Plenty of whiting, as per usual.
But if I'm honest it was a horrible miserable morning on the river Mersey. The wind was howling, the snow was falling and I'd of much
Preferred to stay in my nice warm bed. My fingers have only just thawed out.
Overall though decent day great company and we got out fishing.
Overall we came 4th in the match with Terry Walworth (life of Riley) taking the win.
